Cristiano Ronaldo reveals the emotions he went through before taking the last min penalty

Real Madrid survived a scary Champions League night at the Bernabeu by eventually progressing to the Semi Finals thanks to a late late late Cristiano Ronaldo penalty. The game started in fine fashion for the visitors as Mandzukic scored in the second min to give hope to Juventus and the travelling fans.

Mandzukic doubled Juventus’s lead just before the half time mark before a costly error from Keylor Navas gifted Juventus the third goal. None would have expected that after a dominant first leg display from the reigning Champions.

However, Juventus eventually lost their cool in the dying minutes when Crstiano Ronaldo’s header found its way to Vasquez who was pushed by Benatia inside the box. The decision was argued by Buffon who saw a red for showing disagreement with the ref.

Cristiano Ronaldo stepped in from the spot and with amazing concentration and focus, the Portuguese slotted the ball home to make sure Real Madrid does not collapse in front of a jam packed home crowd.

Ronaldo talked to the media after the game and the Portuguese reveals how tough it was to score the penalty with millions of hopes depending on him.

“I don’t know why Juventus are protesting a clear penalty. If Benatia didn’t push Vazquez from behind, he would’ve scored it in the first place.”

“Anyway, Real Madrid are in the semifinals and that’s what matter most.”

“I knew it was a decisive penalty and I thank God I scored it. The pulse increased, but I calmed down, and I knew I’d be decisive.”
