Diego Simeone talks about Ronaldo’s goal and he’s not much impressed

Cristiano Ronaldo scored one of the most spectacular goals in the history of Champions League which even prompted a standing ovation from Juventus fans. Ronaldo later thanked the Juve fans for their amazing round of applause and said that this is the first time any such applause from rival fans has happened in his career.

Ronaldo’s goal has gained praise from all around the globe. However, Atletico Madrid Manager, Diego Simeone gave a mixed response over Ronaldo’s overhead goal.

Simeone’s Atletico Madrid faces Sporting CP in their Europa League Quarter Final tonight and the Atletico Manager talked to the press ahead of his side’s clash with Sporting.

“We have the opportunity and the possibility of competing to reach a European semifinal and that will be our aim in this game. Being able to reach a semifinal is what will unite us. We are very similar teams, it will be a tough game.”

Simeone insists that his Atletico side won’t be taking the Europa League lightly and they would do all possible to reach the Semi Final.

Simeone was asked about his views on Ronaldo’s goal and the Atletico Manager gave a mixed response.

“Cristiano’s goal was fantastic expression of the beautiful game but Diego Costa also scored one against Getafe which was forgotten.”

Cristiano’s goal is the best I’ve ever seen?

“Pfff … I saw many, I remember one of Francesco River-Poland in the year 86, 5-4 … Look at that and then we talk.”
