Barcelona full back Jordi Alba claims that Cristiano Ronaldo was robbed of his sixth Ballon d’Or. Real Madrid’s Luka Modric won the Ballon d’Or ahead of Ronaldo and Messi and ended a 10 year dominance of the duo. Ronaldo’s stats favored him to lift his sixth Golden Ball ahead of Messi but Luka Modric’s amazing run with Croatia in the World Cup made him the front runner to win the prize.
Both Messi and Ronaldo didn’t attend the Ballon d’Or ceremony just as they have previously snubbed the UEFA and FIFA Awards too.
Ronaldo’s Juventus Manager Allegri claims that the snub will motivate Cristiano and he would work harder to claim the sixth Ballon d’Or soon.
However, Ronaldo has received support from an unexpected source. Barcelona player Jordi Alba feels that Ronaldo was robbed of Ballon d’Or and if he had stayed at Real Madrid, he would have won the award.
Talking about Modric winning the Ballon d’Or, Alba said:
“If Cristiano was still at Real Madrid he’d get the Ballon d’Or.”
“There were many fans and journalists who wanted Cristiano to get the Ballon d’Or when he was in Real Madrid.”
“Now that Cristiano has left Real Madrid, so Modric wins it.”
“The truth is that I do not even follow the assignment anymore, it’s getting worse and worse.”
Having said that, Jordi Alba still insisted that his teammate, Leo Messi remains the best in the World.
“The best player in the world is Messi and there’s a lot of difference with all the others”.
Jordi Alba’s Barcelona future still remains uncertain as he hasn’t signed a contract extension at the Catalan Club and it is rumored that his next move points towards Italy, as Serie A Champs Juventus have been closely monitoring the current situation of Real Madrid’s Marcelo and Barcelona’s Jordi Alba.
