Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United were knocked out of the Champions League as they lost 1-2 at home to Sevilla last night. The first leg ended 0-0 with Sevilla being the better side in the game. It was expected that Man United will go all out attack in the return leg at home. However, it just wasn’t meant to be.
The game was evenly poised for over 70 minutes. However, Ben Yedder broke the deadlock at the 74th minute to give Sevilla a 1-0 lead.
Just 4 minutes later, Ben Yedder scored again to put the tie in Sevilla’s control with a 2-0 lead. Lukaku’s goal 5 minutes later did give Man United some hope. However, they ended up losing 1-2 on the night and crashed out of the Champions League.
Jose Mourinho was not much happy during the post-match press conference but he accepted the responsibility for his side’s defeat.
“I have lost and clearly I have made mistakes.”
However, in an attempt to may be calm the fans or the players, Jose ended up trolling the club itself as he said:
“I don’t want to make a drama of it. We don’t have time for that. We have another match on Sunday and we can’t afford to be sad for more than 24 hours. This is football.”
“I’ve sat in this chair twice at the Champions League and I knocked out Man United at home, at Old Trafford.”
“I sat in this chair with Porto, Man United out. And I sat in this chair with Real Madrid, Man United out. So I don’t think its something new for the club.”
“Of course being Man United Manager and losing a Champions League tie at home is a delusion obviously.”
Well that’s not something the Man United fans would have love to hear.
