Real Madrid Vice-Captain has responded to Klopp’s remarks about him that “he does not defend.” The Brazilian is eyeing yet another Champions League triumph with the Spanish Giants which would be his fourth Champions League title. Marcelo has been instrumental in Real Madrid’s road to the Final as he has scored a number of important goals in the knock out stages of the tournament.
In the build up to the Final, Liverpool Manager Jurgen Klopp said in an interview to Robbie Fowler that “Marcelo is a player who attacks a lot, but… he doesn’t defend,” pointing out Real Madrid’s weakness.
In the pre match press conference, Marcelo responded to Klopp’s comment and the Brazilian says that he does not have anything to prove to anyone.
“I haven’t heard him say it, but heard about it. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.”
“I am happy with my work, as are my teammates, the coach and those within the national team too. I do my work with modesty and humility, and have nothing to prove to anyone.”
Marcelo gave his opinion on facing Salah who is having the best season of his career having scored 43 goals and firing Liverpool to the Champions League Final. Asked on how he will tackle Salah, the Brazilian said:
“I know exactly what I have to do, and I know what I need to do to help my team.”
“Liverpool are a magnificent team and have had a great season. We have to think about the whole team, not just one or two players, that is how you win games.”
“It is a great opportunity to play in the final, and we’re here, as are Liverpool who also deserve it.”
It’s time to drop the mic as the conferences are over and both teams head to the field to take on the center stage.
