Zinedine Zidane continues to press hard for Paul Pogba. In fact Zizou, returned to Real Madrid with a clear message to Florentino Perez: “I want Pogba, now or at the end of the season.”
The Spanish newspaper Marca, claims that Zidane’s pressure to Real Madrid directors in the last weeks, comes from the fact that his only transfer demand when he accepted the job back in march, was the signing of the French midfielder. Meanwhile, the contacts between Zidane and Pogba continue constantly. Pogba, continues to resist any effort made by Manchester United, on renewing his contract which expires in 2021.
However, Zidane’s hopes of a possible swoop for the 26 years old French midfielder, have hit a nail for the moment. It seems that Florentino Perez is unwilling to pay a fee of €130 million for the French superstar. According to El Mundo Deportivo, Perez is not willing to spend more than €50milion, and is afraid that his signing might have a negative impact in the development of Real Madrid’s young midfielders, like Federico Valverde and Martin Odegaard. Another concern regarding his hefty price tag (€130 milion), is that his signing fee might affect negatively the equilibrium of the dressing room, considering the fact that it would surpass Hazards signing fee of €100 million.
Pogba, a key man in France’s World Cup winning squad in 2018, failed to live up to his expectations, ever since his transfer to Man United from Juventus, for a then record highest signing fee of €105 million. His seasons at Manchester United have been characterized by fluctuations in performances. He has often been criticized by TV pundits, due to his lack of tactical discipline, especially in defence. The 26 year old, has appeared only six times this season, due to a troublesome ankle injury.
