Bayern Boss Jupp Heynckes confirms star player ruled out of Madrid clash

Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich promises to be an explosive Semi Final tie in the Champions League this season. The two teams met last year in the Quarter Final with Real Madrid coming out victorious over the course of both legs. Real Madrid defeated Bayern at the Allianz Arena before securing the win at the Bernabeu.

However, as things stand, this year we could see a more competitive game between the two European Giants. Bayern have already secured the Bundesliga title and Zidane’s Madrid have had a mixed form this season.

Talking to the media in an interview, Heynckes talked about his side’s Champions League opponents Real Madrid.

“It is going to be an explosive tie, but there is no fear from us going into it.”

“These are two clubs with a great tradition in European football and two teams who play very attractive football.”

“I know the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu well as both a player and a coach and I’m excited about it.”

However, Bayern suffer from a huge injury concern as star midfielder Arturo Vidal suffered a set back in training session and had to be taken off on the stretcher.

Talking about Vidal’s injury, Heynckes confirmed that he would go a surgery:

“Arturo had twisted his knee without any contact from anyone else. He has a loose body in the knee joint. He needs a surgery and will be out for the time being.”

However, Heynckes insisted that Vidal would be back for the second leg at least if he recovers quick.

“He’s a fighter. I’m confident for his recovery.”
