Former Chelsea and England midfielder Frank Lampard has showered praise on Cristiano Ronaldo for yet again stepping on the occasion and he reveals that he didn’t see PSG play like a big team. PSG went down 1-2 to Real Madrid in the second leg of the UCL round of 16 fixture and resultantly they were knocked out of the Champions League with an aggregate score of 5-2.
While pundits around the World showered praise towards Real Madrid, PSG got their fair share of criticism too. Having spent a lot during the summer transfer window, the Paris side has once again been knocked out at the early stages of the tournament.
Frank Lampard, Rio Ferdinand and Steven Gerrard were all a part of BT Sport match analysis team and the Englishmen heaped praise on Real Madrid for their efforts. Lampard wasn’t impressed by PSG’s games plans and he revealed in the post-match analysis:
“I don’t think they (PSG) went out like a big team. I don’t think. A big team goes out with some tackles and a bit of intent. It might not look great on the eye but you have a right to go. I think they threw the towel in the second half .”
Lampard also heaped praise on Real Madrid talisman Cristiano Ronaldo for scoring so consistently in the Champions League. The Portuguese has now scored in all the games he has played this season in the Champions League. Lampard said:
“Cristiano Ronaldo is pretty incredible. Rio told me before the game he would get his goal, there’s not many players you can commit to like that. You know on the big occasion, the man is going to score.”
